CNC Machinist - Programmer / Setter

We are currently recruiting for a skilled CNC Programmer, Setter & Machinist to join our client's workshop team.
The machine shop consists of conventional milling and turning machines, moreover, has a single CNC VMC. The DMG MORI CMX 1100V milling machine is used for the manufacture of small to medium sized augers, which are used within specialised machines.
This will be an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking for the next step up within their career, with potential to become a Production Engineer, responsible for the programming and development of new orders loaded to the CNC.
To work with both the Production Manager, Purchasing Manger & Spares team, to advise on internal production capability or to recommend outsourcing
To be the champion and have full ownership of the machinery
To create effective production methods, through to efficient fixture and tooling set-ups
Maintaining revised programmes, set up sheets to reflect drawing changes
To look for opportunities and methods to fast track through spares orders to justify an express premium service to customers
To maximise the spindle running time, to limit downtime and to influence stakeholders of practical solutions by the utilisation of the CNC machine
Understand and work to detailed metric drawings, with standard drawing or geometric dimension tolerancing
Skilled & experienced in the machining of components, using conventional manual machinery, moreover CNC VMC
Working with standard raw materials include Acetal, Aluminium & Stainless-Steel. Machined parts must be produced to a high standard of tolerance & finish, and within an agreed period
Complete in-house paperwork to ensure traceability of raw materials including the logging of hours taken to manufacture individual parts
To support design changes and modifying parts/components appropriately prototypes for R&D or re-work due to design changes or supplier quality errors etc.
Adhere to the procedures defined by ISO9001 Quality Assurance system
Maintain a safe working environment in line with the Health & Safety policy together with current regulations
Skills / Knowledge / Experience:
Time-served apprenticeship in machining / CNC machining or time served experience
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and the use of measuring equipment
Interpretation of engineering drawing to define best practice methods of manufacture
Quality measuring with various instruments and following QC procedures
Good knowledge of machining methods, work holding, tooling and mechanical production principles
Strong CNC VMC knowledge in terms of programming, setting, and operating, ideally Siemens controls, or Fanuc
Knowledge of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence EDGECAM programming software & designer
Familiar with Siemen machine controls and Shop Mill programming, direct on the machine control panel
Experience and knowledge of 4th axis machining used for circular ramping / helical interpolation for manufacture
