Electronics repair technician

Location: Cambridge area Job type: Permanent, full time Salary: £27,000 – £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience


The role

We are recruiting an Electronics Repair Technician on behalf of a well-established and innovative technology business based in the Cambridge area. As part of a busy and structured repairs team, you will play a key role in ensuring that customer equipment is repaired to the highest standard — work that users genuinely rely upon.

This role is well suited to someone with a background in a process-driven repair or service environment who takes pride in accurate, methodical work and thrives in a fast-moving team. You will be supported by your manager and wider team, collaborating with other departments to deliver an essential service to a global customer base. Please note that due to the nature of the work undertaken by this team, candidates must be willing to undergo UK SC security clearance. The business will support the successful candidate through this process.


Main responsibilities

  • Diagnose and confirm customer-reported faults using defined procedures, test equipment, jigs, and fixtures
  • Perform disassembly and reassembly of products, including replacement of standard components
  • Conduct inspection and verification of completed repairs
  • Use required software tools to support the repair and processing of products
  • Carry out defined hardware modifications in line with work instructions
  • Record all repair work accurately within the management system
  • Maintain availability and control of spare parts within your area
  • Follow all defined processes including health and safety guidelines
  • Escalate issues or risks promptly to your line manager

Skills/experience

Essential:

  • Higher level education such as GNVQ, BTEC, or A Levels
  • Experience in a repair or service environment, following defined procedures
  • Mechanical assembly and disassembly of products, including PCB level soldering
  • Ability to use standard test equipment and service tools
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow work instructions accurately
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment
  • Good interpersonal skills and familiarity with MS Office (Excel and Word)

Desirable:

  • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Experience using BGA machinery
  • IPC inspection certification
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as Dynamics AX/365

  • Salary: £27,000 – £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Maintenance Engineer
£50,300 plus benefits

A permanent position for a Maintenance Engineer based in the Huntingdon area. This is a great opportunity to make the position your own, you will have full autonomy and be supported by a small team. The company globally is a large, very dynamic and the market leaders in their industry.

The Maintenance Engineer will work with a team of Maintenance Fitters & Electricians for the delivery of a responsive and effective engineering service to production and site operations. Ability to investigate and resolving equipment failures within a timely manner while communicating effectively with the line managers and other departments.

Pro-actively look at new ways of working, new system upgrades and new equipment, all to meet the changing technological challenges.

Main responsibilities for the Maintenance Engineer:

  • Repairing and maintaining site equipment and machinery.
  • Respond to breakdowns, systematically fault find and identify root cause and then implement solution to prevent recurrence in a fully automated factory.
  • Work with production, support groups and suppliers to implement improvement opportunities to increase equipment efficiency and safety and reduce engineering downtime.
  • This role will involve working on various different types of equipment including complex hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic control systems.
  • Lean manufacturing principles are used on a daily basis, adhering to 5s methodology.
  • Ensuring site H&S, site compliance and legislative requirements are upheld.
  • Applicants should have previous experience of working as part of an engineering team with excellent knowledge of fault finding techniques and the ability to react and interact in a production environment.

Skills and Qualifications for the Maintenance Engineer:

  • Ideally you will be a time served Electrical Engineer to ONC, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2320 parts 1 & 2 or suitable equivalent qualification.
  • You will also be familiar with current IEE 18th Edition regulations.
  • A good knowledge and understanding of PLC’s would also be advantageous.
  • Fluid transfer / pump experience.

Hours of work for the Maintenance Engineer:

At present the company is running a double day shift, however the hours of work do state:

  • Rotating 3 shift system of 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday and 2pm to 10pm Monday to Friday and 10pm to 6am Sunday to Thursday

The working environment is clean and very well organised with an ambient temperature.

Multi-skilled engineer

Location: Huntingdon Job type: Permanent, full time Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum


The role

We are recruiting a Multi-Skilled Engineer on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business based in Huntingdon. Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, you will play a key part in ensuring production equipment and systems operate efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime.

Working across both mechanical and electrical disciplines, you will support reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance activities, as well as contributing to site improvement projects and equipment upgrades. This is a hands-on, varied role that will suit someone with a strong engineering background, a proactive approach, and a genuine commitment to safety and quality.


Main responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance on a wide range of production equipment
  • Diagnose and repair faults quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime
  • Participate in routine and planned preventative maintenance schedules
  • Support site improvement projects, equipment upgrades, and installations
  • Devise, fabricate, and install improvements to production machinery
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety standards and company procedures at all times
  • Work collaboratively with production management teams and external contractors

Skills/experience

  • A time-served engineer or equivalent qualification in engineering 
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
  • Proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Reliable and flexible, with a willingness to support out-of-hours maintenance when required
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritise effectively, and adapt to a varied workload

Salary & working hours

  • Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum
  • Hours: Daytime hours, Monday to Friday
